Rented homes and period properties
Chester has a big rental market, from student houses near the University of Chester to Victorian terraces in Hoole, Boughton and the Garden Quarter. Landlords must have an EICR at least every five years and give a copy to tenants, and houses in multiple occupation can have extra requirements from the council. We carry out the inspection, quote for any remedial work and give you the paperwork once it is done.
Much of Chester’s older housing sits in conservation areas, and period terraces and townhouses often have wiring that has been altered many times. We survey first, plan cable routes to protect original features and quote on what we actually find.

Chester questions
All questionsCan you do EICRs for my student lets in Chester?
Yes. We test rental houses and HMOs across Chester, quote for any C1, C2 or FI items with the report and can carry out the remedial work, so you have written confirmation for your tenants and the council.
Do you really come to Chester from the Wirral?
Yes. Chester has always been part of our area, and we regularly work in Hoole, Handbridge, Boughton, Upton-by-Chester and the villages around the city.
Are you a registered electrician?
Yes. We are NAPIT approved and registered under the Part P competent person scheme, so notifiable work is certified and registered with building control for you. Every job is tested and you get the right certificate for it: an Electrical Installation Certificate for new circuits and rewires, a Minor Works Certificate for smaller jobs, or an EICR for an inspection.
Do you give free quotes?
Yes. Tell us what you need by phone, WhatsApp or the form on this site and we will give you a clear quote before any work starts. For bigger jobs such as a rewire we come and look first, so the price is based on your actual property, not a guess.
Do you offer a discount for key workers?
Yes. Blue light employees (police, fire, ambulance and other emergency services) and care sector workers get 10% off. Just mention it when you get in touch, and we may ask to see your work ID.
